Course outline (.pdf)

REQUIRED MATERIALS

-An old smock, apron or an old shirt.
- A small bottle of hand lotion or baby oil
- A bar of soap in a plastic container
- A small supply of band aids
Because the inks and solvents are irritating to the skin you should buy latex or vinyl examination gloves. At four students to a box of 100, you should have sufficient gloves for the semester at about five dollars each student. They are available at any pharmacy.
You will be required to buy specialized papers throughout the semester. To begin with buy one sheet each of the following:
- Arches vélin
-M.B.M. Dessin or Mayfair proofing paper
Pencils, erasers, a sketchbook, glue, scissors, a hobby or utility knife, a #8 sabeline brush, ruler, and old magazines. Be prepared to buy more small items from time to time.
The following are items that you will need to be able to print:
- One pad of newsprint 50 sheets
- Tracing paper
- Masking tape
- One 1" putty knife in metal
-One sheet of acetate or vinyl 18" X 24"
The following are supplies that are specialized and are available at either Concordia or UQAM art stores.
- One acrylic plate 4mm thick, app. 18 X 20 cm
- Two zinc plates 2mm thick, app. 7 X 10 cm or larger
(You can buy larger plates in groups, we have facilities here to cut them up).
This list is by no means complete.
You will not need everything all at once but always come to class with the specified materials for that day.
