and Curved lines have meanings.

In The Bath by Mary Cassatt, the first lines that we notice are the stripes on the woman's dress. The stripes are diagonal lines. They contribute to the dynamics of the composition.

In Richard Estes' Telephone Booths, 1968, we lookup and down, again and again, all over the painting. The lines in this painting are all very orderly and perfect. It is organized arounf the repetition of vertical elements.

Isamu Noguchi's sculpture is primarily vertical. It is a single, thick, vertical line The interest in the piece is maintained through the use of a broken edge which modifies its vertical.

Barnett Newman's,Voice of Fire/Voix de feu, celebrates America's successes in 1967 through the vertical line. The audacity of its size and simplicity behave as an exclamation point to the exhibitions on display in the United States Pavilion at expo.
